eSSENCE is happy to present the next in a series of LU eScience-Hub events: Presenting the InfraVis visualisation infrastructure - visualisation experts at your service

Please note that this event is in-person only

When: 14 March, 2024, 13:15–15:30

Where: Venue TBA, Lund University, Sweden

Programme

13:15 Alexandros Sopasakis - welcome on behalf of the LU eScience hub

13:20 Emanuel Larsson, Node Coordinator for InfraVis

Title: "Introducing InfraVis @LU and application experts"

13:35 Jonas Lindemann, LUNARC

Title: "Visualising dams with Python and ParaView"

Abstract: Scientific Visualisation encompasses far more than merely generating 3D plots. The process begins with the extraction of data from various sources and file formats, often encountering data provided in formats not readily suited to direct visualisation. In this talk, I will outline the workflow utilized in a dam visualisation project I am managing at InfraVis, in collaboration with Torleif Dahlin and Reyhaneh Norooz. This presentation aims to illustrate the steps involved in preparing, processing, and ultimately visualising scientific data and the related tools used..

14:00 Joakim Eriksson, Ergonomics and Aerosol Technology

Title: "VR-lab at the Department of Design Sciences"

Abstract: A number of concrete examples from recent projects at the VR-Lab will be presented in order to showcase some of the capabilities and recent methods used within our lab.

14:25 Jonas Ahlstedt, Lund University Bioimaging Centre

Title: "Preparing and exploring 3D imaging datasets from the Life Science field in Virtual Reality"

Abstract: In this demonstration and talk we will explore and demonstrate the possibilities of displaying your imaging datasets in Virtual Reality (VR) using Unreal Engine as a tool. We will dive into techniques used and showcase workflows followed by a live stage-demonstration, where participants can explore the inside of e.g., the maze of lung arteries, based on a pre-clincial dataset, obtained using Synchrotron X-ray microtomography.

15:00 Fika and mingle

15:30 End of programme
