Jason Weaver is a Professor of Chemical Engineering and an Affiliate Professor of Chemistry at the University of Florida. He received a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Stanford University in 1998. His research focuses on developing a molecular-level understanding of surface chemical reactions through application of ultrahigh vacuum and in situ surface analysis methods as well as molecular simulations. He has pioneered studies of the surface chemistry of late transition metal oxides, providing new methods for studying the reactivity of well-defined sites on their surfaces. Using this approach, he discovered the exceptional structural sensitivity in their reactivity towards light alkanes, with important implications for catalytic alkane conversion.
